Privacy Policy
MyPetTag helps reunite lost pets with their owners through a scannable QR tag. This page explains what data we handle and your rights.
What we store
- Your account email (and password, if you set one).
- Pet details you enter: name, species, birth date, photo, notes.
- Contact details you choose to share: owner name, phone, email.
- Your IP address and an approximate location (city / region / country) when you create an account, kept for security and fraud prevention.
Security & scan log
When a pet's tag is scanned, we log the visitor's IP address and an approximate location (city / region / country) for up to 30 days. This log is only used to help investigate a suspected theft and is never shown to the pet's owner or displayed publicly.
What is shown publicly
When someone scans your pet's active QR, a public page shows ONLY the fields you explicitly enabled (name / phone / email) plus the pet's photo, species, age and notes. Nothing is shown until you give consent, and you can take the page offline at any time from your dashboard.
Consent & control
Public display requires your explicit consent. You can edit, hide, or remove any field whenever you want. Turning consent off immediately takes the public page offline.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account from My account. This disables your account, takes all your pet pages offline and erases the displayed contact details.
Third parties
Sign-in with Google is optional and handled by Google's OAuth. We use a third-party IP geolocation service (ip-api.com) to estimate the approximate location of new accounts; only the IP address is shared with it. We do not sell your data. Emails are sent only for account activation and password reset.
